About Electronic Music | Workshop Series 2017

Have you ever wondered where those blips and bleeps are coming from? Have you ever wanted to press that button? Do you like electronic music? We have got the workshop for you.

Creative Sounds – The Stomach presents the latest in our series of workshops featuring the local unsung hero of electro Hayden Sinclair (Takaro Techno Club, Huff, Buska Dimes, 1964, Red Bull Sound Select).

Hayden will be presenting the fundamentals of electronic music creation and performance – unpacking topics such as sampling, synthesizing, programming and sequencing, and more.

Join us at 2:00pm on Saturday the 6th of May in the Events Space, Ground Floor, Palmerston North City Library.

This workshop is free and all ages. Bring along anyone interested in the darks arts of electronic music.

There will be some hands-on experiences.

Un/conventional Instruments | Workshop Series 2017

Un/conventional Instruments is the latest in Creative Sounds – The Stomach 2017 workshop series. We are very lucky to be joined by Rob Thorne Toi Pūoro, MA (Ngāti Tumutumu), NZSM/Victoria University Composer in Residence 2017-18.

Rob presents an alternative to the status quo, challenging the assumptions about limits of conventional instrumentation and music creation approaches. Join Rob for a hands-on afternoon exploring music creation.

Registration required. This workshop is suitable for musicians from all genres. We recommend that you bring your own instrument where suitable or get in touch if you’re unsure – Email admin@creativesounds.org.nz

Rockquest Workshops

Rockquest Workshops 2017:

Creative Sounds – The Stomach presents a series of Rockquest Workshops beginning Tuesday the 14th of February.

A weekly workshop space with contributions from local musicians.

For Smokefree Rockquest participants and high school musicians aspiring to perform their own original music. All genres welcome.

Bring yourselves/ your instruments/ your music to the semi-structured workshop environment. You will have access to a professional sound engineer, as well as many experienced local musicians, all keen to assist you toward creating your own music. The workshops will be focused on preparing you and/or your band/project for performance, composing and writing your own original music, & enjoying the creation of music.

– You don’t need to have been in a band before
– You do need to want to make your own music!
– You will meet new, musically like-minded people
– You will have access to rehearsal spaces, equipment, expertise, and advice

Cost: this workshop series is free!
Venue: The Stomach, 84 Lombard St. Palmerston North.

We are very pleased to announce the latest of the Creative Sounds - The Stomach workshops for 2017. This workshop will take the form of an actual band's recording session. Local ledges Judas Sheep will be tracking one of their smash hits with us over the course of the evening. You are invited to witness/experience the awesomeness of this undertaking.

The workshop will cover: Drum, bass, guitar, and vocal setup and mic placement. The session will be multitracked starting with drums, followed by the rest.

Our awesome audio engineer Nigel John Mauchline will talk you through the entire process.
